Surprise! My friend at Krypton Comics presented me with an unexpected gift of an art commission!

Now I can't get anything done cuz I am staring at it and trying to figure out where it is going to go in my office!!

Designin, scanning and a little paperwork. A perfect day!

Shipped 4 boxes of finished books. Picked up 2 dust jackets from Tilford and dropped one dust jacket for them to work on. Met with Todd at Snow Dog to drop off 3 hardcover books, 2 soft cover books, 2 Capitol dust jackets for lamination and 4 Capitol front and back covers for lamination.
Started building designs for an Antman book and a Flash book. Continued to scan elements for 23 Snow Dog book projects.

Up early for a long, long day. Answered emails, did pricing requests, prepped 3 hardcover and 2 soft cover projects going to Snow Dog on Monday, and prepped a dust jacket going to Tilford on Monday. After lunch, I organized new Capitol Bindery projects to begin working on layout sheets, began scanning elements for two Capitol projects and 23 Snow Dog projects.

Up early to tweak a cover design. This is part of a group of books going to Snow Dog Bindery on Monday.

Met with Kevin and Scott at Capitol Bindery. Picked up 9 finished books. Discussed details on the six books in the shop and the 17 books at my house.
Here is a three volume project where the customer just wanted art on the front covers, rather than front and back. Strangely enough Kevin informed me that just putting art on the cover is harder to do than putting it on both front and back. I am not sure I understand why.

Another Miracleman book! I need to double check measurements and then send the customer-designed dust jacket out for printing and lamination.

Two more Cerebus volumes. Four more volumes to go and we will have completed a 12 volume set for this customer.

Here are three books bound by another bindery but sent to us for new covers. This included new endsheets, rerounding the spine, hand sanding all edges to remove glue splatter (from the original binding), and new head/foot bands.

With the volume of books increasing for all three binderies I will be now making 2-3 trips a week (instead of just my usual Saturday run) to keep things moving.

Up early to answer emails and to tweak another cover design.
A large box arrrived from London. It contained comics for 9 books (7 Capitol Bindery, 2 Snow Dog Bindery).

Up early to continue production on several designs.

Mid-morning I met with the designer of the Single Bound Studios site to discuss changes.
There are now only six weeks to go before I leave my day job to work at comic book bookbinding full time.
Besides facilitating the ever increasing volumes of books now flowing through the three binderies, I need to work on major changes to the Single Bound Studios web site to include detailed information on each bindery. Having the information just in the blog is not working.
After much thought, I am finalizing 20-30 auction listings featuring comic-bookbinding sample packs. This means each auction will feature a Capitol Bindery book, a Snow Dog Bindery book and Bindery 59 book. Each auction will start out at $9.95 with FREE shipping. I can’t think of an easier way for a potential customer to compare the full menu of what Single Bound Studios has to offer.
I am also plotting out my travel plans for the rest of 2010. I will be attending shows within a day’s drive of Omaha. Send me some suggestions of what I should attend.

Worked on designs for two Snow Dog soft cover volumes and two Snow Dog hardcover volumes. Interesting group of books, I wasn’t aware of three out the four titles.

To go with these books.
