9/30

Up early to get caught up on all emails and bids.

9/29

Long day at the day job. At lunch I stopped by Snow Dog to drop something off that I had forgotten and to look at the printed covers for the 22 books he is working on. I am always amazed at how cool they look at full size and how different they look before they are laminated. Todd has discovered that he needs to print the covers and then let them "out gas" for a couple of days before laminating them. In the evening I worked on answering the backlog of binding emails.

9/28

Took the day off from bookbinding to work all day on a project for my pesky day job.

9/27

Had breakfast with the binders at Capitol. Picked up 12 finished books.

Hardcover Score Card

2 books at my house being worked on and waiting to go to the bindery.

Met briefly with Todd at Snow Dog to drop off five more books to work on.

I am behind on responding to emails because after my meetings at the two binderies I had to work the rest of the day at my day job.

Up early to double check orders for five books going to Snow Dog on Saturday.

Took the day off.

Up early to pull staples, remove ad pages/back pages and do some scanning for several new softcover books. Worked on art for a new die that will be used on a couple of hardcover books in October.

9/22

Three new books arrived to be made into soft covers. Here is what happens when Newsarama runs a blog on binding comics and points to my site.

And why is my site suddenly popular in Croatia and Poland?

9/21

Continued to answer emails because of a blog posting on Newsarama.

Had breafast with Bob and Kevin at the bindery. It was a light week. I dropped off 10 books to be worked on and picked up one finished book and one repaired book. I got them photographed, packaed and shipped. Two new books arrived to be made into hardcovers.

Up early to work on a two-book softcover project. One cover was designed and produced by the customer. It just needs minor sizing tweaks to make it work. The other cover he left up to me. Then I double checked the hardcover books one more time and then printed out an instruction sheet for the bindery.

Answered quite a few emails because of a blog posting on Newsarama. Gotta love the internet.

9/18

Up early to make corrections to layout sheets for 10 books I am taking to the bindery on Saturday.

9/17

Up early to work on answering emails. Surprisingly three emails were from people looking to get copies of the Cerebus Book of Covers. I have one copy left in my files. First come, first serve. A copy of this book was donated by Dave Sim and myself to the 2008 Mid-Ohio Con (10/4-5) charity auction. So for those attending here is your chance to get a copy.

9/16

Up early to work on layout sheets for 4 hardcover books and get them emailed to customers. Five new books arrived to be made into hardcovers. Got them unpacked and prepped. Then did the layout sheets and emailed to the client.

Organized and prepped a 12 volume project to be made into hardcover books. It is Cerebus 1-300 using all original issues except #1 which is a counterfeit. Double checked 17 softcover books to be taken to Snow Dog on Monday. Started work on two new soft cover books.

9/13

Had breakfast with the binders at Capitol Bindery. Picked up 5 finished books. Went home and got them photographed, packed and shipped.

12 books arrived to be made into hardcover books. Spent 5 hours organizing a very complex two-book project. This project scares me because of all the loose pages.

9/12

Up early to finish answering emails. Took the evening off.

9/10-11

Long days at the day job. Didn't get to do much with binding except study some orders and answer some emails.

9/9

Up early to finish answering emails. Then I photographed and packed six hardcover books that will ship out today. After that I unpacked two boxes of books and made notes of questions I had in order to email the customers.

9/8

Began answering a backlog of emails. Two packages arrived yesterday but I did not have a chance to unpack them.

9/6

Had breakfast with the binders at Capitol Bindery. We discussed a two book, very complex order that so far has 9 hours of prep in it. I also picked up six finished books. It would have been more but the binder accidentally stamped one book upside down on a set of five. We all a chuckle over that .

Up early to print out shipping labels for several boxes of hard and soft cover books that will ship out today. I am holding one box back because the person is on vacation. Worked on soft cover designs in the evening.

9/2

Met with Todd at Snow Dog to pick up five finished books. Came home and got them photographed and ready for shipping. Two of them were corrections that came out perfect this time. My favorites were the two volume set of Quantum & Woody.
